NAGAP Visionary Award

IERF’s Executive Director Receives Visionary Award!

Congratulations to Susan Bedil, our Executive Director, who has been named the recipient of NAGAP’s Visionary Award for 2020!

Description of the Award:

NAGAP, The Association for Graduate Enrollment Management presents the Visionary Award to honor an individual who has demonstrated unique vision in the field. As an established leader in the profession, the recipient is an individual whose work may have impacted policy, shaped professionalism, or influenced research specifically in the area of graduate enrollment management.

About Susan Bedil:

Susan joined IERF in 2002 and has served as its Executive Director for nearly twenty years. Susan hails from Johannesburg, South Africa, where she is one of the founders of both the Midrand Campus Group and Educor (Education Investment Corporation). Prior to that, Susan held a full-time position as lecturer in the School of Law of the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa.

After she moved to the US, her passion for education continued, as she dedicated herself to furthering the International Enrollment Management (IEM) profession. As her nominator notes, Susan has promoted the value of listening to the challenges and successes of IEM professionals, as well as communication between applicants and university admissions teams. She has regularly incorporated them in her strategies and business processes, not satisfied with simply providing a service. This practice alone has separated Susan from other enterprises and helped further professionalism in the field.

Susan has had well over four decades of experience in the public and private sectors of higher education, including volunteer work on various committees. Past service includes the International Advisory Council for NAGAP, The Association for Graduate Enrollment Management, and the Board for the Transition to Teaching for Immigrant Professionals (TPIP) Program at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Susan also previously served as Chair of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES®), an organization committed to formulating and maintaining ethical standards in the field of foreign educational evaluation.
